Kia Ora my name is Jephte and I’am a year 8 student at Point England school.

This year I am in room 18 and my teachers name is Mr Barks. This is my second time to be studying in Mr Barks class so I have to work harder than I did the first time I had Mr Barks and I all so need to be a good role model.

Our topic for this year in room 18 is cyber smart witch means being safe on the Internet and it means that we should not download music or video with out a teacher permission.

My Plan For Year 8.

My plan for next year is to be a house captain for Takitimu. I am going to achieve my goal by being responsible and I will and also be a good role model.

My Dream Holiday Out Of This World.

Brring... screamed the alarm. I tried to ignore it. I wanted to stay in my dream.

My dream was about me going to space. My dream started with me playing in my backyard. Suddenly, I saw a space suit falling out of the sky and it landed on my clothes line, freaky! I put on the space suit, I blinked, I saw a rocket in front of me. The door was wide open like a monsters mouth. I got into the rocket, anyway. I took a few steps in the rocket, it started shaking. I looked out the window,‘nek minnit’ the rocket was flying through the clouds into outer space.

I was a bit scared because I thought there was no one controlling the rocket. I climbed up the ladder to the control room. On my way up I heard two people speaking in a strange language, now I was so scared. I walked very carefully and slowly. I found a place to hide then took a peek, it was two aliens. I almost got a heart attack! I hid next to a fridge. After a few hours I was starting to get hungry. I looked in the fridge to see if there was some food, all the food in the fridge looked disgusting. I didn’t eat it so I stayed hungry.

After a little while the rocket landed on the moon. The two aliens got out of the rocket and I got out too. I followed them till they got into a gigantic building. I kept following them till they got to a room with people in it calling for help. The aliens opened the door with a password. They talked to the people inside the room then they went out of the room and locked the door. I didn’t know the password to open the door when the aliens were gone.

I went and knocked on the door and someone inside the room said ‘Hello’ and I repied, ‘Hello,’ back. It sounded like a kid talking. “Can you please help us,” he pleaded.
“But, I don’t know the password to open the door,” I answered.
“Try 123342,” they said.
“OK’” I tried it and it worked! I went inside, all the people in that room were three of my class mates - Samson,Tyler and Havea.

When we were trying to find our way out of that place we saw two security aliens. We had to fight them to go past them. Samson tried to punch one of the aliens. It blocked the punch. Then the alien punched him to the ground! Sadly, Samson broke his leg! Me, Havea and Tyler felt sorry for Samson. We all went to beat up the aliens and we defeated them.

We had to lift Samson up and take him the space ship on the moon back to earth.
We got in the rocket and tried to figure out how to make the space ship fly. Tyler saw the aliens coming after us. We did every thing we could to make the ship fly. Then, amazingly, the space ship started flying.
We were out in space but we did not know how to land the space ship! As the rocket ship got close to the ground we got parachutes, we had found them earlier and jumped out of the space ship before it crashed! We were so lucky to all land in my backyard. First thing we did we went inside and had drink and something to eat. And, guess what, Samsons leg was better!

That was the end of my dream.

Every Thursday this term at 9:30 our class had a Tennis Session and Marcelle is our instructor.
This morning Mr Harris took us to the courts for our tennis session. When we got there Marcelle told us to get a racquet and tennis ball each. Then we had to warm up by bouncing the tennis ball on our racquet then every one had to find a partner to practice our skills with. After we finished warming up Marcelle told us to get in groups of four or five and line up next to the net because we were just about to have a tournament. The first group we challenged was Feki,Tyler,Chelsea and Jordan.They beat us four nil, We stayed on the same net because we lost our first game. Next we challenged Racheal, Cruz, Sione and Joe, we beat them and the score was four to three. Our last group to challenge was David,Tamati,Tyler R and Adain,we beat them four nill. We made it in the final but the rain ruined it. My group was Helen, Havea, Hossanah and me,I had heaps of fun in our class tournament.

In Room 19 this term we have been studying a country that is in the Rugby World Cup 2011,
I have learnt about Romania. Unfortunately, they did not qualify for the quarter-finals.

“Hello father, can I ask you some questions about Romania?”
“Why not son, go on, so what is your first question?”
“Who is the president in Romania?”
“Is it Jovan Damjovanic?”
“That is correct dad. Now we are onto the next question. Who is the best player in the Romanian rugby team?”
“Gaberial Brezioanu.”
“Nice work, Dad. Next, what is the international dish in Romania?”
“That is easy salmai.”
“What is the continent of Romania?”
“The continent of Romania is Europe.”
“Your going great dad.”
“Oh thank you.”
“Next what is the capital city of Romania?”
“Bucharest.”
“And you got that question right. Next, what is the population of Romania.”
“mmmm....that is quite hard, I will have to guess is it 24 000 000?”
“Good work you, next question is what things do Romania celebrate?”
“BESTFEAST”
“And your last question is what are the colours of the Romania rugby team uniform?”
“The Romanian rugby jersey is blue, yellow and red and there shorts are blue.”
“Nice work dad your got all the question right. Thanks.”

Where In The World Is Latvia And Lithuania?

The Force were given a number of names of rugby-playing nations of the world. These were some of the nations that are recognised by the world governing body of Rugby Union, the International Rugby Board (IRB), as member unions but did not qualify for RWC 2011.

We divided them up amongst our team. I was given the nations listed below:
Latvia;
Lithuania.

This is what I found -

Latvia is in Europe and the capital City is Riga. The population in Latvia is 2,204,708
Ice hockey and soccer atre popular sports in Latvia.

Lithuania is a part Europe too. The capital city in Lithuania is Vilnius and the population of Lithuania is 3,535,547.
In Lithuania basketball and kick-boxing are popular sports.

I have decided to study Latvia for our Immersion task.

We are using the nations of the 2011 Rugby World Cup as our inquiry path.

For this unit we are in one of four teams: Brumbies, Force, Rebels, Stormers. My team is Force. There will be a number of tasks for us to navigate to achieve our goal of an excellent result in this unit. There are a mixture of individual and team tasks to be completed. The main task that will show our learning in this unit will be a Hyperstudio presentation about one of the countries in the World Cup competition.

My favorite rugby team is the All Blacks because they have a talanted team and they play fea and they got a great coach. I think the All Blacks are going to win the world cup this year. My favorite player in the All Blacks is Sonny Bill Williams.

In our class we have been working on furniture design for the street.The main thing about designing furniture for the street, is so that we can have a better place to do our work on our netbooks. So when visitors come in they can enjoy our place too.

We searched the Internet to get some ideas for our furniture. We all received a paper and a pencil to sketch designs of our furniture. We all went home and we collected some ways that could be recycled, like toilet rolls, boxes and wood. After we finished making our prototypes we papermashay them with newspaper together with p.v.a glue.

We waited til our prototypes got dry and then we painted them and wait till the paint gets dry.

Who invented the popsicle?

In 1905 the Popsicle was invented by an eleven year old boy named Frank Epperson. He invented the Popsicle by leaving his soda outside on a cold night and then next morning it was an ice block and that is where Frank
Epperson got the idea of making ice blocks.
Epperson was born in 1894 and died in1983 at the age of 89. He was educated at the Indiana University.Frank Epperson, who accidentally invented the Popsicle at age 11, later worked in California as a powdered lemonade vendor before eventually patenting and selling the rights to his creation to Popsicle Industries. One individual told him about a six-inch glass test tube that he used as a mold. He then invented a machine to make the frozen treat and also stamped his name on the wooden stick. Later, George, Frank's son (he was a father of five children) , renamed the treat - Popsicle, in honor and with permission of his dad.
Frank Epperson’s invention is important even today. Ice blocks are important because they can help you on a very sunny day and they can help you by making you cold.

Motorbikes

Did you know? Motorbikes have changed over the past 100 years.

In the past, motorbikes use to look like mountain bikes, but not any more because they have gone Bigger, Better, Stronger and Faster. I am sure that motorbikes are going to change again in the future, I think there’s going to be flying motor bikes!

The first type of motorbike was the steam powered velocipede. It was invented by Sylvester Howard Roper in 1869.
In the present there are different kinds of motorbikes, there are: Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and many more.

Looking Back- Looking Foward

LOOKING BACK - LOOKING FORWARD
Last term at our school we had lots of fun and many things to do such as the year 7 and 8 camp. It was held on the school field.

The school picnic was cool too because we were playing a lot of sports such as cricket and base ball, my favourite was base ball.

Glee was one of the many other things to do to.

Last term was our first time to use our Netbooks and I enjoyed it, it was also the first time our school was to compete in the rugby sevens tournament our boys managed to win the tournament.

This term our topic is Bigger,Better,Stronger,Faster, and it is all about innovation,imagination, discovery,creativity and practicality.

I think this term is going to be cool just like last term because this term I joined some of the many activities and the things I will joined this term is glee,rugby, soccer and KFC but it is not the food KFC it is the kids fitness club.

My Thoughts About Camp

Next week it is going to be the senior camp at PT England.It is on the school field and the name of the camp this year is camp take charge. We are going on Monday and we are finishing on Wednesday. I’m looking forward to it, I am going to pack my bag on this Thursday.The name of My group is the ‘Thinkers’ and my leaders are Tamaiti and Rachael and I am lucky because most of the people in my group are my friends.I don’t no yet who are the people that are going to be sleeping with me in the tent but I would like it if Joshua and Samson are going to be in the same tent as me .

At camp my favourite activity was kayaking and I hope that our first activity to do is going to be kayaking. On the last day of camp we are going to Swim-Rama pools and we are going there with Year Six and Five because that the day there camp is starting and it will be finished by Friday.

When we were steal waiting for camp to start I was starting to think kayaking was going to be my favourite activity,but it wasn't. My favourite activity was Rock up especially because of the dunk-er.The thing that made me like the dunk-er best because it was a really hot day and I wanted to get cold because it was to hot. On Wednesday when we went to Swimmarama it was a great day because it wasn’t to hot or to cold it was just fine. At three o'clock the Senior camp was finished and the juniors camp had started. After that Seniors had to go back to school to see which group won and it was our group, THE THINKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did a play about the frog prince I was a guard. Erene was a frog and Lepa was a prince and Marven was the king.

The princess was playing with her Golden ball in the forest hi dropped in the pool

frog came along and said " If I get the ball for you will you give me anything I want" The princess said "Yes I can give you anything you want". The frog got the ball and said he wanted the princess to let him eat and sleep at her castle. Then she went back home. Later that night the frog came to her castle and the frog knocked on the door. The guard opened the door and ran to tell the king. The king made the princess keep her promise. So the frog ate from her plate and drank from her cup and slept om her bed. The frog started to cry so the princess kissed the frog and he turned into a prince. They got married and lived happily ever after.
